Intermezzo

While waiting in Hamburg for the next ship to take him back to America, and Winnetou, Old Shatterhand crosses paths with two old westerner friends, who are also on their way back to the Wild West after visiting family and acquaintances in Germany. In the seaman’s tavern the Wasserkant, the three friends Old Shatterhand, ‘The Griffon’ and ’Gator George, pass the hours with tales of their exploits during their sojourns in Germany and Mexico, and thus entertain the patrons amid at times uproarious laughter, as well as sighs of empathy, almost to the wee hours of the morning. Uncle Johannes learns that one cannot milk a billy goat; a superstitious town councillor becomes a victim of his own machinations and must make good on his promise to accept the suitor his daughter chooses to marry; a crippled but gifted artist finds justice when the identity of the real murderer is finally uncovered; and in Mexico, a man thought to have died a long time ago returns to reveal the secret of the empty tomb to pay his debts.
